Setting sun across Vermont lawn

Sun through the trees

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else. ~ C. S. Lewis Fall sun in Vermont.

Frail but adventuresome

Another beautiful fall road in Vermont

“The real winners are not those at the top but those who have come the farthest over the toughest roads. Your victory may never make the headlines. But you will know about it, and that’s what counts.” ~ Ernest A. Fitzgerald Photo taken from a moving car, so not so focused, but shows again the…

Kids rejoicing in a rock climb

“Of all the animals, the boy is the most unmanageable” ~ Plato My boy, surrounded by his cousins (5 of my brother’s 6 kids). Nothing like putting like-aged boys together. What fun!

We are like leaves on a tree

“If you don’t know [your family’s] history, then you don’t know anything. You are a leaf that doesn’t know it is part of a tree” ~ Michael Crichton I took this in the back yard of the bride during a family wedding. Wood for the still

The maple sugar house I visited uses the one fuel they have plenty of for distilling the syrup – trees. Maple sap is 98% water, so it has to be boiled down quite a bit to make the syrup we all love.

Sugar house

A sugar house is where maple sap is boiled down to maple syrup.

As in a dream

“There are some people who live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those who turn one into the other.” ~ Douglas H. Everett On an overcast day in Vermont, this house just looked kind of dreamy. Here’s a posterized view:

Rich colors
